Ready to Rescue Day 47

1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves."

Praise God that His harvest is plentiful and there are many that He wants to respond to the gospel and grow in His grace. Repent of any excuses that have kept you from going out into the harvest field personally. Ask God to send you and to raise up more disciples who can go with you to reap the harvest. Yield to the Lord of the harvest and His plan to use us in the process of reaping His harvest.

  • What are some excuses that we make for not making disciples? What do these excuses reveal about us? What do they reveal about our view of discipleship? What are some legitimate obstacles to our task of making disciples? What are some practical ways that we can overcome these? How can we help each other overcome these obstacles?
  • How is our witness for God a demonstration of our belief in His worthiness to be worshipped by all peoples?

"The supremacy of God in all things is the great reward we long for in fasting. His supremacy in our own affection and in all our life-choices. His supremacy in the purity of the church. His supremacy in the salvation of the lost. His supremacy in the establishing of righteousness and justice. And his supremacy for the joy of all peoples in the evangelization of the world." - John Piper, A Hunger for God: Desiring God through Prayer and Fasting
