Day 20: Thankful

Have you ever met someone who was thankful and yet not joyful?  Thanksgiving and joy simply go together. A person who is thankful produces a harvest of joy.  All throughout scripture we see the importance of being thankful.  A heart of thanksgiving transforms a person from the inside out.

One of the keys to prayer and fasting is thanksgiving.  The more we focus in on God the more we have reason to thank Him.  Before we ask God for a single thing, we should start by thanking Him for what He has already done! What has God done in your life?
When we look back at what God has done in our lives it serves as a reminder of all the ways God has been faithful. And when we remind ourselves about how good God is, we can’t help but thank him!

These 21 days of prayer and fasting are coming to a close tomorrow.  Let’s end our time entering into God’s presence by flooding our prayers with how thankful we are for Him!

Psalm 100:4 (ESV)
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Psalm 107:1 (ESV)
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!

Psalm 143:5 (ESV)
I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.
